Tapestries of Time

Tapestries of Time

Tapestries can take years and years to complete. It is work, hard work, long hours, backbreaking positions hunched over something. It is creativity, it is challenges, and it is needle pokes with blood. In our culture of instant fixes or knowledge or solutions, the daunting task of making a tapestry seems too overwhelming, too time-consuming, and too costly. Your life was built over time. Use time to build those lives around you and the ones placed in your care. It is time that becomes our greatest asset or curse. Time can be used to prepare, feed, build, create, and uplift or it can be a landslide to disaster.

Use time wisely; use downtime to prepare for times of change, growth, and challenges.

My university years where trying as well. Political science class was terrible. I finally would sit through the class reciting scriptures as the human truths being taught were so deceptive and disgusting. The Holy Spirit uses any preparation we have done to fling truth against the lies that bombard us hour by hour, class by class, year by year. Three years of university was exhausting. God was so good. He put me in a job that I was alone. It gave me time to reflect and slow down and concentrate on human relationships again. God’s Word has the answers! Corinthians 8:1-3 “…We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies. And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.”

In three short verses, He addresses the deception of knowledge, the proper attitude of knowledge, and how to use any knowledge we are given. Don’t be afraid of knowledge, education, or the enjoyment of learning. These are all gifts, gifts we can use to greatly bless those around us. But it can easily become an idol as well and a weapon we use against those around us. But in Christ, moved by the Holy Spirit, wrapped in the beautiful tapestry of God’s love, guidance, and Word, we can stand against the deceptions all around us and stand against the storms of change, and bring Him glory despite all that is going on in our lives.

We can be warriors for Him, in Him, and by Him! Now, let’s go and use our time wisely!
