The Battle is not Physical but Spiritual

The Battle is not Physical but Spiritual

Right now our struggle is against a tiny microorganism called a virus. That is our physical struggle. But the real battle is spiritual. It is the battle of fear, dread, worry, anger, selfishness, and the list goes on and on. It is not what we do with the physical virus that counts as a believer but what we do with the spiritual battles our physical situations create.

Illness is all around us. It is a result of living in a fallen sinful world. But our battle is against the dark powers of this world and against the spiritual forces of evil. Our battle is never the physical although the spiritual can bleed out into the physical.

The Bible describes Satan as the prince of the air.

Ephesians 2:2 “ in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient.”

Be aware of where the battle really is and what is really going on. Spiritualism is all around us. One can deny the reality of a spiritual reality for only so long. But the Bible warns us that Satan appears as an angel of light. He looks good. He feels good. He sounds beautiful. He is cunny and seductive.

“5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ”. 2 Corinthians 10:5.

It is only by looking at the world, our thoughts, dreams, and visions, through a lens clarified, focused, and filtered by the Scriptures, a deep and personal relationship with God and the Holy Spirit that we are able to see the battle for what it really is.

13 “Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” We are encouraged to stand because in Him we can!

It looks hopeless from a physical point of view often but God has won the spiritual battle and He will redeem the physical in His time. Fight the good fight this week against the endless barrage of fear, hopelessness, and panic around us. We will stand, in Him, we will stand our ground.
