When a goose girl becomes a princess
Ephesians 2 “14 For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace, 16 and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. 17 He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit.”
So this is our truth. We will struggle as there is discord between the New and the Old, the flesh and the spirit, the goose girl and the princess, but in Christ, we have the victory because He has destroyed that barrier, reconciled the differences and triumphed in our stead. That is the Good News. We are saved and then we are sanctified, changed, worked over, redone, to create something beautiful out of rags, something amazing out of ugliness, for His honour and glory.
So next time you find yourself struggling, take a moment to remind yourself who you were without Christ and who you are now in Christ. This is why being in the Word of God is so important for us.
We must be reminded over and over, just as the Children of Israel in the wilderness need to be reminded over and over again of who God is, and what He has done for us, and who we are in Him. When we are beaten down by temptations, tossed about by storms of life, hurting so much we feel like giving up, we need to be reminded that our God is victorious over all. That He loves us and that He cares for us and that He will see us through. That we are goose girls being changed into princesses. It is not all easy and it is not just changing the clothes. It is changing our hearts, our minds, our thoughts, our goals, and our dreams.
But we get the Prince! We get to go and live with Him in glory for ever and ever and ever, amen!
