Christ is my hero
Ephesians chapter 2 “As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are disobedient. 3 All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our flesh and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature deserving of wrath. 4 But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, 5 made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved.”
I think a lot about fairy tales. I love them. The prince always swoops in and saves the day. The princess falls madly in love and they marry and live happily ever after. One version of Sleeping Beauty I read and really enjoyed was the prince turned out to be the son of the witch who cast the spell on Sleeping Beauty. He saw visions of this sleeping princess and became obsessed with find her. After finding her he did and broke the spell with true love’s kiss, overcoming his own mother’s magic to free his love.
Our prince, our Lord and Savior, died for us while we were indifferent peasants, going about our own ways, not desiring Him in the least! It was God our Heavenly Father who desired so deeply to have a relationship with us humans even after we fell into sin. So He sent His Son, our Prince to die for us, so we could be covered in His righteousness and come into the presence of God.
I find this a beautiful picture of what Christ has done for us. We are just ordinary girls, tromping through life and then our Prince, our Hero finds us. He covers us with His lifeblood and we are transformed before all into beautiful creatures. Princesses and priestesses, fit to serve and worship before the King of the Universe, the Creator of all life, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
