Have you ever noticed something interesting in First Samuel?
In chapter 16, David is already serving Saul by playing music for him. Saul even likes David. But in the next chapter, after David defeats Goliath, Saul asks, “Whose son is this young man?”
It sounds like he doesn’t really know him.
This may feel confusing, but the question Saul asks is deeper than just recognizing a face. In those days, asking “Whose son is he?” meant asking about a person’s family, background, and place in life.
And this connects to our lives too.
David was already chosen by God. He was already serving faithfully. But he was still mostly unseen just a shepherd, just a musician, doing small and quiet things.
Then one day, everything changed.
After David stepped out in faith and courage, people began to notice him. The same king who once overlooked him now wants to know who he really is.
There’s a simple but powerful message here.
You can be faithful and still feel unnoticed.
You can do the right things and still feel hidden.
But that does not mean God has forgotten you.
God saw David long before others did.
God was preparing him in the quiet places.
And when the right time came, David’s life spoke for itself.
Maybe your life feels quiet right now. Maybe it feels small. But that may be exactly where God is working in you.
Stay faithful.
Keep doing what is right.
Trust God’s timing.
Being seen by people may come later.
But being known by God is what truly matters.
