How Jesus changed my life

My name is Linda Wilson. I’ve always believed in God but didn’t consciously receive Christ into my life until March 1996. I came from a very dysfunctional background of abuse, alcoholism, divorce, eating disorders and many other destructive things that can damage a life.

In 1996 I was angry, confused, frustrated with life and people in general. I didn’t like myself and I didn’t like life. I was a survivor but there was no joy in the life I was living. I finally spoke with a long-time friend of our family that I trusted who happened to be a Pastor.

His advice to me was to visit a church and to listen for God. I began to attend a church and sat in the congregation for a few months. At the end of that time, after sitting and listening to the Word of God, I answered an altar call to accept Jesus into my life. That was the beginning of my life adventures with Him. I received the baptism of the Holy Spirit not too long after that and both experiences changed my life.

From the day I accepted God into my life, Jesus into my heart, and allowed the Holy Spirit to do His job working in me, my life changed.

I found a friend, a confidante, someone who would meet me in the most painful areas of life and would stick with me as I healed. I discovered a love for His presence and the truth of His Word. I finally learned to enjoy life as I allowed God to heal me from the inside out. It is a work in progress because I continually learn to surrender and trust Him with the past but also trust Him with the experiences yet to come. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned walking with Him thus far, is that I never walk alone and no matter what comes He is always with me.
