Faithful in His Promises
Moses knew he was the chosen vessel for the deliverance of God's peoples from the hand of Pharaoh. And he made an effort to do that with his own strength. The best illustration is when he was intervening between a Hebrew and an Egyptian and killing the Egytian later. And the day after when he saw a Hebrew fighting with his own brother. Moses asked him why there is a dispute among both of them. He got perplexed when he was inquired back who made him imperator & judge over them ? And they also added, whether he intends to murder them as he slaughtered the Egyptian. When Moses heard this, he fled to Midian. Upon reaching there, he met the priest of Midian and served him by taking care of his cattle. In gratitude of rescuing the daughters of Jethro the priest from the bandits, the priest granted his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage. Moses thought his life was going to end up taking care of cattles and serving his father in law and forgot about the real purpose for which God had called him for.
Despite all of these influences and experience, he was not away from God.
If he was away from God, he might never have tuned in the God's voice within the burning bush. In all these circumstances he didn't disregard the God of his forefathers.
In the similar way, Jonah was running away from God's plan to go to Nineveh, but he was caught up in the stomach of a fish, where he prayed to God that led him to God's plan to deliver the people of Nineveh.
Sometimes our promises, our vision seem far away from us. Don't be discouraged ; instead be at his feet. Have patience to wait for Him and have faith that He will fulfill the promises, our vision at the right time. Don't be away from Him.
